Today, I had a leisurely long lunch with my lovely friend Naz at Pelican in St Kilda. This is one of her fav places to eat in St Kilda and I was keen to try the tapas I had heard so much about.
We settled on four sharing dishes, the chicken liver pate, pan roasted Moreton Bay bugs with chilli, garlic and parsley, twice-cooked pork belly skewers and chargrilled chorizo with braised cannellini beans. This was all accompanied by a rather nice bottle of Spanish tempranillo.
Whilst all the dishes were great and very moreish, the pork belly was a huge hit with me. It was amazing! The service at Pelican is very good, and the staff are very friendly.
I finished off with a brulee that was just perfect in size and taste whilst Naz had some lovely Milawa cheese.
There’s a great outdoor area which would be fabulous in warmer weather. It’s a definite place for me to go back to and there may be repeat performances of this lovely way to spend a Saturday arvo.
Pelican is located at 16 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.
